Esau was red headed and hairy.

The descendants of Esau became the ‘Edomites’, who lived in what is now southern Israel and Jordan.

Edom in Hebrew means ‘red’.

They were traditional enemies of Israel for hundreds of years.

Edom (אדום) and Adam (אדם) are written almost the same way in Hebrew.

Esau/Edom is a symbol of a carnal, unsaved human. Like his ancestor Adam, he sold his authority for something of no value. Adam in the OT often times pictures the whole humanity (men, sons of Adam). In the same way the nation of Edom is a symbol of the unsaved non-believers.

Like his ancestor Adam, he sold his authority for something of no value.

And trying to reclaim it is impossible. All Sales Are Final.

9) Call me Ishmael.

10) BWAHahahahahahaha!!! (Or maybe she just giggled. It doesn’t say.)

11) Huh ... gee, that’s a stumper. It couldn’t possibly be The Father and The Son, could it?

12) Varies by translation, but I always liked “a mess of pottage” ... in exchange for Isaac’s paternal blessing ... traditionally given only to the eldest son.
